The National Center on Elder Abuse is committed to protecting your privacy, and we take your privacy concerns very seriously.

Personally Provided Information

We collect no personal information about you when you visit our Web site, unless you choose to provide that information to us.

If you choose to provide us with personal information about yourself through an e-mail message, form, etc., we will maintain the information only as long as needed to respond to your question or to fulfill the stated purpose of the communication.

Anonymous Information

For statistical purposes, and to help make our site more useful to visitors, our Web server automatically collects and temporarily stores the following anonymous information:

  • The name of the search engine you used to find us (for example, www.google.com/search, or www.aol.com),

  • The date and time of your visit,

  • If you linked to this site from another Web site, the address of that Web site (for example, www.nlm.nih.gov, if you found us through the National Library of Medicine).

Anonymous information is information that cannot tell us anything personally identifiable about you. For example, we might know that 15,000 people visited our site in a month, but we would not know information such as people’s names or home or business addresses.

How We Use Information Collected

We use the anonymous information that is gathered automatically by our Web server to determine overall site traffic, what types of information our users are looking for, and where visitors to our site find out about us.


The National Center on Elder Abuse, National Association of State Units on Aging has security functions in place to protect against the loss, misuse, alteration, or destruction of information under our control. Only authorized employees have access to the information you provide us, and that access is limited by need.
